“Mend It Yourself” Workshop Met with Participants for the Second Time

Organized in collaboration with Hitit University Sustainability Office, the Women and Family Issues Application and Research Center (HÜKAM), and the Fashion Design Program, the “Mend It Yourself: Sustainable Fashion Workshop - II” brought together the concepts of sustainable fashion and conscious consumption through a hands-on learning experience.

Held as a continuation of the first workshop, which attracted great interest, the event enabled participants to learn basic sewing and repair techniques to extend the life cycle of textile products. With contributions from Fashion Design Program students, participants practiced skills such as sewing on buttons, repairing small tears, and applying simple stitching techniques for daily use.

Throughout the workshop, participants not only gained basic sewing skills but also developed awareness of reuse, repair, and waste reduction in textile products. The workshop emphasized that usable clothing items can be restored through small interventions and that sustainable living habits can be strengthened through everyday practices.

Held in an enjoyable, interactive atmosphere, the event highlighted the importance of “giving our belongings a second chance” and helped promote sustainable fashion practices. The “Mend It Yourself” workshop series aims to support learning through production and encourage participants to integrate awareness of sustainable consumption into daily life.
